Poi to Voi with Karen Sun Ray Next held on Thu, Apr 27, 2017 at 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
This enrollment runs from Thu Jul 7, 2016 - Thu Aug 25, 2016
The beauty and grace of watching someone dance with Voi (veil poi) can be hypnotizing. But before you can create this magic... There are some skills you need to work on!
For the first half of the course we will focus on the skill of seamless poi twirling. Once this skill is mastered - which will require home practice practice practice - then the veil will be added. This will take your dance art to a whole new level!
This full 8-week course will give you the skills you need for the voi choreography course we will offer in the Fall.
Bring your own poi or you may order a pair through the studio. There will be some to borrow as well.

Some History:
Poi twirling, originally from the islands of New Zealand, is an ancient dance form that has transformed into a beautiful flow art seen all around the world. The movements were originally designed for warriors to remain strong and flexible, while at the same time balancing the body’s coordination. Traditionally a sphere on the end of a string, today’s flow arts take on many different shapes and forms.

Thursdays, July 7 - August 25, 2016 (8 weeks)
6-7pm
$80 for members, $96 non members
