ANCIENT CUSTOM, MODERN EXPERIENCE
A myth of belly dance is that it is for men’s enjoyment... when actually, belly dance began as a women’s dance - done by, and for, women. It was a dance of emotion, self-expression, and celebration... elements that will complement the event of your life that celebrates YOU!
Your entire wedding does not have to be themed to add the beauty of belly dance (though we know some good designers and caterers if you’d like a fully themed exotic wedding!).
BACHELORETTE PARTIES Hosted at our beautiful, easy-to-get-to studio in NE St Pete, get the girls together and come learn to belly dance! We’ll start by giving you a brief history of the dance, its sacred and ancient roots, and then teach everyone some fun and easy steps. Bring a bottle of wine (or two) and come relax and have a memorable experience you will all love! The bride-to-be will also take home a hip scarf she can use later!
Want something more risque? We can do the same with a Burlesque Dance class, too! The classy art of the strip-tease...
PERFORMANCES Tired of the same old wedding singers? Don’t worry we’ll shake ‘em up with this act! We have the perfect performance to wow your guests of every age. Our professionally trained dancers will amaze you with their beauty and talent, engage the adventurous to participate in their show, and bring laughs and smiles to all your family and friends in a night they will long remember. Is your reception on the beach? The fire show looks great on the sand!
FOR THE BRIDE Need a little coaching in the bedroom? We offer private lessons in belly dance, hula, or get a little more risque on the seduction with burlesque! Packages available.
About Belly Dance
There is great debate about the origins of belly dance... the fact is, belly dance is the first women’s dance and pre-dates any culture or country.
Some speculate that belly dance has origins in temple dances, ancient customs that honored the Goddesses of the time, as the originators of life, the nurturing Mothers of society.
Others feel belly dance originates in birthing practices; as there are different belly dance moves that are recommended for different stages of labor, as the women gives life through her hips. Even in parts of the Middle East today, ladies will gather around a woman in labor and undulate in encouragement of the process.
Of course, now belly dance has evolved into a beautiful performance art, fusing with modern dance and theatrical presentation to create a visual experience for all to enjoy.
However we should not forget the sacred origins, the power of the divine feminine within each and every one of us!
