Learn the dance and movement of "burlesque" while exploring your personal sensual expression.
We will be working on the movement and performance personality of the individual as much as possible while learning simple dance steps, arm movements and playing with attitude & performance.
There will be a short warm up as we will be putting our bodies in positions that look great but take a bit of getting used to. We will be working on a variety of walks, "line" of the body as it can impact the intention of the movement, subtle movement vs. grandiose and more using traditional & non-traditional "burlesque" style music . Occasionally we will be using props such as boas, fans etc. as they are an essential part of the style. There will be some "combos" but not necessarily in every class.
We will dance barefoot in class but will discuss shoes and use them occasionally as well. The instructor will give sufficient notice if props, etc, will be used in class.
Currently the class is working on a performance for the August 10th Arabian Nights Burlesque. Contact the instructor if you are interested in performing.

Some movement experience recommended but not required (dance, yoga, martial arts etc.)
