To dance is to be out of yourself. Larger, more beautiful, more powerful. This is power, it is glory on earth and it is yours for the taking.

Omaris has danced since she was a little girl; she always performed in her family’s reunions as if it was a normal thing for a child to do. She dreamed of becoming a Ballerina, but more than that, she always felt dancing as a necessary element to live.
When she was twenty years old, Omaris fell for a dance she had never seen before. Its customs, the beauty of its movements, and specially its music, entered into Omaris’s heart to never leave her: Middle Eastern Dance. She started studying with Denisse Khalil in Puerto Rico in 2002; after six months, she became her assistant. Soon, Omaris started teaching classes on her own, and dancing professionally in private events and restaurants. Her technique evolved specially from the classes she taught, where she had to correct her students but more importantly, correct herself.
Originally from the Dominican Republic, Omaris currently lives in Saint Petersburg, Florida. She moved here in 2005, where she sought out the dance community, participating in Haflas and dancing in restaurants. In 2007 she started teaching at Hip Expressions Dance Studio.
Omaris studied Advertisement in the Dominican Republic, and Professional Photography in Puerto Rico. Though she loves Advertisement and enjoys taking pictures, all the jobs she has ever had have been related with Middle Eastern Dance. Omaris continues to further her study of the dance by attending workshops in Tampa, Orlando, and Miami, and has kept improving herself by observing and practicing. She is acknowledged for her teaching method, her natural and elegant movements, and her passion as she dances. Recently, her talent was acknowledged by winning third place in the Miami Bellydance Competition Professional Category. Omaris is a natural born dancer who always dances with her heart.

Omaris -
Thank you again for all of your help! When I started belly dancing last year, I thought of it as a fun exercise class. Because of you I want to be a great dancer and work hard at improving and performing for many years to come. I don't know if I told you that before, but I am very grateful for your inspiration and mentorship :)
Best,
Christina
"Thanks for being such an inspiring teacher!!!"
