Hoop Dance Basics (Level 1)
Sun, 1:15 - 2:15pm - Abby Albaum
Intermediate Hoop Dance (Level 2)
Thurs, 7:45 - 8:45pm - Abby Albaum
Modern hoop dancers use adult-sized, handmade fitness hoops that are much easier to master than the plastic hoops found in stores. Reason being, they move slower and are wrapped with friction tape for better grip. Hoop dance is sometimes referred to as a meditative healing art. When hooping, people often describe the experience as a pleasurable one that evokes feelings of euphoria. Being in the present moment and experiencing 'flow' is what it's all about.
Hoop rentals are included for this class, and space is limited. Please arrive early to secure your spot.

Hoop Dance Basics (Level 1)
This introductory-level hoop dance class is intended for those who are interested in getting a great workout while moving freely with a professional hoola hoop. In this class, we will tap into our creativity and explore self-expression while hooping on the waist, with emphasis on Level 1 hoop moves, such as: recoveries, walking with the hoop, changing foot positions, float up, float down, and basic transitions. This class is not about mastering lots of tricks but rather focusing on graceful, free-flowing hoop movements. The importance of hooping in both currents (directions) will also be covered, along with fun and interactive group activities.
Sun, 1:15 - 2:15pm
Intermediate Hoop Dance (Level 2)
This class is intended for those with a solid understanding of basic hoop moves. The intermediate student is looking to take their skills to the next level while developing their own unique style and grace within the circle. In this class, we will explore combinations and focus on seamless flow between on and off body movements. Smaller and lighter hoops (such as those in the Hoola Monsters Lightning Bolt series) are encouraged, which allows for quick breaks and reverses. In addition, we will introduce "blind hooping," a practice credited to Hoop Path founder, Jonathan Baxter (one of Abby's mentors and a pioneer in the hoop dance community). The use of blindfolds, or "Blind hooping" enables the hoop dancer to explore feeling vs. sight. Level 2 Hoop moves include, but are not limited to: warrior, leg hoop hooping, isolations, jumps and tosses.
Thurs, 8:15 - 9:15pm
